Almost the moment we entered Thailand’s airspace, I started thinking about food. Bangkok is an exceptional city and it’s well known for its fabulous Thai cuisine, from its trademark delicious curry, to the made-from-heaven milk tea. However, when you’re in a foreign country, especially one famed for different spices and flavours, and you don’t know your way around, it can be difficult to find somewhere you like that will satisfy your appetite. Add to that the fact that I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like to experiment much. I have a very sensitive tummy! Luckily, my auntie lives in Bangkok, and she recommended that we pay a visit to Chocolate Ville which is the most fabulously named place isn’t it?
When we first arrived in Bangkok we did try looking for authentic Thai food but the locals couldn’t easily describe the recipes and ingredients they had put into their menus, so we ended up settling for McDonalds! But heck, even the burgers were different. I thought McDonalds was the same around the world!? I tried the McKao Kapirao Crispy Chicken with Egg on top of the rice. I’ll warn you now: IT IS VERY SPICY! So we were excited to visit Chocolate Ville….
How To Get to Chocolate Ville, Bangkok
We were staying near the Landmark Hotel in Nana Square and Chocolate Ville is a quite a long way from there. It’s around a 45 minute to an hour’s ride from the hotel so we booked an Uber and off we went!

First Impressions
When we arrived my jaw dropped. It was so gorgeous and cute! Chocolate Ville has a lovely homely feel, it’s as if you’re in a mini European-style village. There are large hedges surrounding the whole park, there’s a light tower in the middle, a lake and a little river cruising around the tables, chairs and restaurants in the middle. With verandas, a barn-shaped shop, a large heart-shaped doorway, and a mini walkway that looks just like the London Bridge it has a very quaint feel. There are photo and video opportunities at every corner for Instagrammers and bloggers alike. We took loads! As you can see from our gallery:
Eating at Chocolate Ville Bangkok
Well, what can we say about the food? We ordered Crispy Pata, which is a Filippino dish made of deep fried pig trotters with vinegar and a spice dip. Honestly, it’s delicious! We also ordered Carbonara because we are classy like that… and we added Chicken Cordon Bleu because I was craving decent chicken to munch on and some steamed rice. Being Filipino of course I love rice! As for drinks, we both ordered a fresh young coconut or “Buko” as we call it in our native language. All in all, the Crispy Pata was great, it was perfectly crispy and so tasty. The Carbonara was scrumptious though the portion size wasn’t very generous. The Chicken Cordon Bleu had a delightful Italian flavour and feel to it and the coconut drinks were top notch!
The Service
One thing that wasn’t so great was the service. It was pretty slow. Not terrible, but definitely on the slow side. I don’t know if it was perhaps because there were so many people to serve, or whether they were just short staffed when we were there, but other than that it was great. Thankfully, I’m not impatient.
Desert Time…
For dessert, we ordered a Banoffee cake and a Molten Chocolate Lava Cake. However, because the service was so slow, they only ended up giving us the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake. They forgot the other one completely. Thankfully, the Lava Cake was so delicious, we weren’t too worried.
After the meal, we took pictures all around the park. Every nook and cranny is Instagram worthy! As the sun came down, and the moon came up and lit up the night, Chocolate Ville looked even more romantic. It was so lovely for couples to just take a walk hand-in-hand by the lake side.
All too soon it was time to go back to our place, but we were truly satisfied by our visit to Chocolate Ville. It was both a treat for our eyes, and our tummies!
