Best Bali Eats – Where to Eat in Bali

Bali Eats - Where to eat in Bali

We’ve had some delicious food whilst travelling around Asia, and Bali was no exception. The cafe culture is rich and there’s a plethora of healthy eats which is great when you’re looking for something to kill the Bintang hangovers. There are so many places to choose from, and this does mean that it gets a bit confusing to choose where to eat in Bali. Finding the best option for brunch, lunch and dinner is not easy… no one likes food FOMO do they!

Where to Eat in Bali

The cafes below are probably my favourites, based on eating out everyday in just the short time we had in Bali. I mean, I could probably stay there for a whole month eating my way around the island, and hope I do one day, but these definitely get my vote for now. They all deliver incredible food in the most beautiful of ways, they are amazing spaces created with gorgeous interiors and the staff delivered the most top notch service.

Be warned, the price of food in Bali is a bit more than in other parts of Asia, especially for backpackers, but when you’ve been living on $1 dishes for months, it’s nice to treat yourself with some fancy Pittaya bowels.

1. Peloton Cafe

What we ate?

Smoothie bowls, big and filling raw vegan breakfasts, hash stacks and really great coffee.

What’s the vibe?

A bike themed, clean looking place. Lots of great filament light fittings and big round wooden tables for groups.

Why go?

A perfect chilled brunch spot, impeccable service and they didn’t rush us to leave after we were super full from all of the amazing food.

2. Betelnut

What we ate?

The freshest summer rolls, hearty but healthy burritos, falafel bowls and juicy burgers.

What’s the vibe?

Wooden rooftop and earthy decor, it’s next to the beach so it’s got a nice relaxed seaside vibe to it.

Why go?

It’s perfect for a chilled evening with friends. Attentive staff and great service. Book ahead if you want to go in the evening, it gets rammed with surfers after about six looking for some post sea grub.

3.Bukit Cafe in Uluwatu

What we ate?

We visited twice because it was THAT good. We had the Zuchini fritters, massive burgers, the pulled pork special, Zuchinni pasta and chicken wraps. All very fresh and filling.

What’s the vibe?

An island life retreat, lots of light wood and white. Nice big tables. Loads of fresh fruit at the reception for decoration including a huge pile of coconuts.

Why go?

Perfect for pre or post surf fuel. The food is great and very filling.

4. Elephant cafe in Ubud

What we ate?

The gorilla salad, laksa, brunch set menu and gnocchi.

What’s the vibe?

Jungle cool – lots of bamboo and boho interiors. A relaxed environment with an edge of plush.

Why go?

For a fantastic feed. It’s all about the food. Very fresh, very generous portions.

5. The Bridges in Ubud

What we ate?

The tasting menu, a very good value option if you can’t make up your mind and love the theatre of wine pairing. The gazpacho appetiser and salmon main won it for us.

What’s the vibe?

Casual fine dining in the jungle. The restaurant layout is cleverly done so that the focus of your meal is at the lush greenery in front of you – very clever.

Why go?

Go to feel special and sophisticated. The cocktails are excellent, the food very good but the whole ‘Flashpacker’ experience is really why you’d go.
